Lucy, I'm HOME

If there is more beautiful scenery than the area of North Carolina I returned from last night, then I have never seen it.  My husband was not on board with my idea to plant dozens of 80 foot pine trees in our back yard.  He also thinks I need to "slow down" with my desire to be packed by the end of the week, quit our jobs and move there.

It did my heart good to spend four days with the two people on the planet who have known me the longest and love me the best.  It did my spirit good to be totally my self.

This morning when I hit the shower I'll have to practice getting back into my regular persona which is not my care free vacationing at my brothers house person.  There really are no other women besides my sister in law that I can talk to about anything and everything in my head.  I miss them the most in that respect.

My life here is good though and I am grateful for the many people that I have become close to, but none of them knew me pre-sobriety, pre-middle age, pre-wore down from life.

I'm ready to start my work week albeit one day late, but there is a touch of sadness in my heart and a yearning to run back to North Carolina for one more morning on the back porch with the two people I love best.

Come on over Pam. I have a big back porch and the scenery is beautiful too. Yes, this is a good part of the world. If the heat would moderate in the summer, I don't think that it could be beat.

I lived in Asheville for 10 years, and i agree, it's incredibly beautiful...all across the whole state actually.

Glad you had a grand time and glad that you are back.

Beautiful spot indeed! My bestie has known me since I was 21. She can read me like a book and that is pricelss. Somtimes we just need to be with people that never need an explanation of who we are....

One of my sponsorship aunties lives in Cary NC so I love visiting there, and my friend has a cabin in Ashville so I love visiting there too, my best friends' mom is in Charlotte, another place I like, so basically if you're ever in NC again let me know a few weeks ahead and I'll make the effort to drive and hug you! :)

I like that 'pre-wore down by life'. Glad you had a good break.

I graduated HS in NC and after that my father moved the family to California. Not long after I turned 18 (one month) I packed my bags and went back to NC. It is beautiful. But I live in Arizona now. Carolina in my mind, that's what I say. :)

Pam: It was so great to meet you. You gave a great talk and there just wasn't enough time for everything. I wish we'd had more time to get to know each other.
I love sponsoring Leslie and she is doing so well. Having you here was the highlight of her sobriety so far !!
Hugs, Ginnie
