Still protesting TITLE pressure

I went to see Dr. Hello Kitty yesterday to get my refills for asthma meds.  She seemed to think that maybe my chronic smoking could be playing a part in my asthma.  I told her it was an interesting theory and that I would think about stopping.  Yeah, kind of like 2 years ago when I stopped for 18 months and gained 45 lbs.  I have been smoking for 41 years.  I just need one more cigarette is usually how I start the day.  Just one more.

It's party weekend next door with some out of town guests who bring their karaoke machine with 2500 songs.  I will pop in and out to get my "OMG!- you should be making lots of money singing" fix.  This is always said by people who did not spend most of their lives in and out of different bands, bars and auditions.

Well..........damn.  I am flawed in so many areas.  How lucky am I that many years ago, God used some other flawed people to come up with some simple steps to follow........a path leading right out of the nightmare of alcoholism and addiction.  Willingness is the only thing I had to bring to the table.  There are many other areas in my life that I could apply the steps to as well (see paragraph one above) but without the key of willingness.....well you know.

The last time I quit smoking (20+ years ago) I actually LOST weight - I guess because I was ready to quit. I hope that happens for you because I want you to live for a long time.

Thanks for writing about the flawedness being a gateway to God, I think that helps me to see my current situation in a new light.

Awww, Pam. I hope that you do quit. I too want you to be around.

Hope that you have a good Friday applying the steps and traditions.

Awwww Pammie, at least you aren't alone in your flawedness. We are all right here too. Love you girl... just for today could you cut back? I want you to grow old with all of us here in blogger land.

I stopped smoking when I was good and ready, and not a Marlboro Red in the Box sooner.

I have never smoked so I don't know how hard it would be to quit. But I HAVE tried to stop eating junk and haven't gotten very far.

I smoked for 33 yrs and thankfully I was able to give them up on 9/11/2005. Yes, I gained weight but I was married to an asshole so it wasn't necessarily because of not smoking. I did it because my cardid artery was 98% blocked and I really didn't want to die.

This is relatively amusing for me because I'm a med student doing a pulmonary rotation at the moment. On Friday I asked the tech if she could do the pulmonary function tests on me...turns out that I have small airway disease. wah wah wah.

Anyways, I'm enjoying your humor and view on life. Keep up the great writing!
