Yesterday was my home group birthday celebration for June birthdays. I received my 21st bouquet of flowers from a man that had 6 months when I came into the program. He had a stroke this year and his grown "normal" daughter had to help him into the meeting and speak for him. She said (with a smile) "I have never known why it was so important for my Dad to bring flowers every year for some white woman, but he insisted, so I drove him here from New Orleans." It is truly another sober year for me when I hold my roses from Donald. We build a foundation with certain people in the beginning and we nurture that foundation.
I sat next to a newcomer girl last night and just loved her instantly. When this happens, I know that God is at work so I'm anxious to see what part we will play in each others lives over the coming months.
I think I'm ready for the new week. It's coming whether I'm ready or not. Be kind.
