Not even looking at the clock

I stayed home from work yesterday.  My husband and I picked up his Aunt and Uncle from the airport to spend one night with us before they head down to the coast to hop a cruise for Belize.  We had such a wonderful time at dinner and I enjoyed their talks of "remember when?"  It's nice to see my husband with people who love him.

I am about to cook a breakfast of farm fresh eggs, bacon, home made buttermilk biscuits and milk gravy.  They won't be in the south long so I need to do it right.

I'm grateful this morning to be able to do normal things like clean house for company, sit and listen to a conversation, cook a meal.  These used to be things that just messed up my high.  I would count the hours and minutes until forced niceties were over and I could get blitzed.  I can't think of one single person (in my mind) that was worth giving up my high for.

Enjoy your Saturday and all the normal stuff that comes with it.

Have a good breakfast Pammie. I am heading out to an Alanon fundraiser with my pot of potato soup in hand. Should be a good day for the both of us!

I was the same way. And full of resentments that I had to give an hour or 2 for someone else.

You have really helped me "get it".

I hear ya, sister. There are many days when I just want to stay home and do some laundry and bake some bread. It helps me feel grounded.

In sailboat racing we call it a Lay Day where we rest and provision and repair anything needing. A whole day that involves no sail raising.

Is great to find the peace and reassurance in the simple routines of life. Like cleaning out the house of old junk, and de-cluttering.
I still catch myself wishing moments away so I can have some time to myself and - but I don't drink, so I have a few minutes to spare and linger and actually listen.
People like it when you lean on the door frame and just nod whilst they talk.
