I want a big plate please

Thanksgiving dinner for 19 at my house at 1:00pm.  Everyone will bring their best dish and oh yes, everyone has a famous one in my family.

I started on my dressing last night and it is the East Texas way or the "right" way however you want to look at it.  The cornbread has to be made the night before in a cast iron skillet and if it is not, everyone can somehow tell.  I am making an orange and honey basted spiral ham, squash and cheese casserole, sweet potatoes with lots of brown sugar and pecans, and my famous family dish of shoe peg corn with cream cheese, lots of butter and chopped green chillies and jalapenos.  There will be plenty of food brought in as the noon hour approaches.  It's Carb day at my house.

We do not sit at one table in our family and I like it that way.  Thanksgiving is served buffet fashion, and then find a place to sit with someone you want to catch up with.  And no, please don't sneak food to Theo, although a Great Dane can fool anyone into thinking they are starving it's all an act.  Every one is invited to bring their dogs along unless they have fleas then no, I'm sorry.

Funny, but I'm already hoping everyone leaves at a decent hour so I can make it to a meeting tonight, because a day set aside to be thankful just has to include a meeting.

Enjoy your day, no matter how you spend it!

Happy Thanksgiving. Love you Pammie.

Pam that food sounds wonderful -- I warn all my guests about the dog's hunger artist act. He sits and looks as if he is going to keel over if somebody doesn't give him a treat right away.

Mom and I went to the Golden Corral one Thanksgiving. Talk about CARBS. It was one of those "only in Texas days" I will never forget. I'm so happy to hear about the big crowd. You love people, and you show that love with cornbread and shoe peg corn.

Your comment made me cry this morning. I have learned crying is sometimes just what the heart needs. I'm grateful for Pammie next door.

I love Pammie next door, and in addition to wanting stow away on Lou's trip, I also would like to be sitting on your couch with a big plate balanced on my knees listening to all of your family noise happily swirling around through out the room. Bless you Pam for sharing yourself here in our blogger world. We are all blessed.
