Funny young woman

A young woman approached me after a meeting last night.  It went like this.

"Have you got a minute?"
"Sure, my name is Pam."
"Yes I know,  I want you to know that you can be my sponsor if you like."
"How long have you been sober?"
"I have various sobriety dates. I've been off of pills for three weeks, off of weed for ten days and I have not had any alcohol for three days.  So I guess I have three sobriety dates."
"Well it doesn't quite work that way darlin'."
"Oh, I can see this isn't going to work out between us.  I need someone more supportive."
"Would you like my phone number and we could talk about how the program works?"
"Sure, but I don't have a pen or paper."
"Do you want to see if someone has a pen before the room empties out?"
"No, not really."
I laugh "you're kind of funny."
"You're kind of mean."

"I need someone more supportive" Ha! Sounds like she is wanting the easier, softer way. Well, at least she realizes that she needs a sponsor--or rather that someone could be her sponsor if they would like to be. Funny and sad.

Sounds like you might be kind of lucky. Someone else will surely be "nice" to that woman.

Yesterday I said something bad (but true) about my ex-husband - does that count?

I'm sorry, but I'm laughing my ass off right now. Hard.

"I want you to know you can be my sponsor if you like."

Love it.

How about you get a card to hand out to young 'uns like her:

"Before you give someone a piece of your mind, make sure you can get by with what is left."

Love, Pammie

I couldn't post on your blog either yesterday. Had a call from a young woman who told she went to rehab for three days but they didn't cure anything and she wishes she could sue them.

LMAO! For some reason Pam's blog blocks me too, but I found a way around it. If you post under name/URL it will allow to post and leave your name
