Goat Sex

Nine months ago when my home group decided to take on a huge project for our convention, I voted "no" in the group conscious and was overruled.  All of these months, I have said that I can not participate because I will be pulled in 10 different directions that weekend and will not have the time to dedicate.  Last night I was sitting in group conscious passing out weeks worth of researched material on what it takes to feed 500 treatment center/half way house clients for three days......It's progressing just like I said it would......no one is stepping up.....and damn it, I'm right in the middle of it.  I was sitting in a room with twelve really good people with really good hearts, wanting to do a really good job.  I left the meeting wanting to do all I can to help this group achieve this big goal.  They are enthusiastic as hell.....they just needed a starting place.

I met a client at the treatment center last night (where my home group meets)  she said she had spoken with the director of the facility and the staff to tell them she absolutely cannot attend our meetings there because our members talk about having sex with goats.  I missed that particular meeting but I could think of four or five people right off the top of my head that could have said that.  I mentioned at our group conscious that they just might want to spare the new comer "goat sex" stories until they have at least 30 days....LOL  (reader: it's just an analogy..."I was so messed up that someone could have told me I had sex with a goat the night before and I wouldn't have known if it was true or not.")

Let the day begin.

So now, all of a sudden, Google/Blogger will allow me to comment, something it has not allowed me to do since you started back blogging.

A group conscience can stir up a lot of stuff for a lot of people. My home group recently did a group inventory. I had to stop attending half way through the dozen or more sessions. Some people's kids...just sayin'.

I remember someone joking in a meeting about so and so having sex with a chicken. I was so new that I had no idea if what they were saying was true. I still don't. But I kept coming back.

A day in the life of a recovering person....

I would leave a longer comment, but I'm on my way to the farm.
Later.

LOL, our group tends to mention chickens and peanut butter a lot. They are also analogies and inside jokes. I guess that would scare someone who was a little on the sensative side.

I have a sponsee who got all freaked last saturday because someone said they were on probation loudly in a restaurant. OMG what will all those complete strangers who now know ((((I)))) am associated with someone on PROBATION think of ME? HOW devistating!

It is however, really funny to watch the book's words continue to come clear in reality "I suppose some would be shocked at our seeming
worldliness and levity. But just underneath there is deadly earnestness."

I LOVE THIS PROGRAM AND THESE PEOPLE, goats chickens peanutbutter and all!!!

This is a great post, and I understand the wanting to do something with service and also knowing my limits sometimes are just showing up for a newcomer and sometimes just talking to a sponsee...I hope that it works itself out for you and yes I have heard such phrases in meetings and yep, I kept coming back...

I think the client needs to lighten up.

Well, this is the south and farm animals are the farmer's best friend in tough times. The client must be from another part of the country.
