crack head

Before I got sober (all time in my life is marked before or after I got sober) I packed a pine cone and two live fish in a bag and took off walking.  This event, among thousands of others just pops into my head from time to time.  What could I have possibly been thinking?  I do know that I had smoked a hell of a lot of crack that day.

If you have no recovering Crack Heads in your life, then you've probably never seen the sheer JOY on the face of one, who notices for the first time that the extremely painful "lighter wheel" wound on their thumb has begun to heal.  Of course, if you have no recovering Crack Heads in your life, then you probably still have your microwave, television, jewelry and sanity.  So I guess that kind of evens it all out.

I remember the day I was sitting at the table in a meeting, looked down at my elbows, and realized that they were no longer chaffed and raw; a by-product of leaning on the wooden bars as I drank for hours on end in the local pub. It was a 'moment' and one I won't ever forget.

Have a great weekend Pammie!

I get lighter wheel from trying to light camp fires. But that is different. Love you, Pammie.
