Muddy Floors

A storm blew in late yesterday afternoon.  There were trees bending, limbs falling, buckets and buckets of rain and hail.  We lost electricity for hours and I had a lasagna in the electric oven.  Remember all that floor mopping I did over the weekend?  A Great Dane trampling thru a muddy yard destroyed all that work.  I had worked so hard to get the pool and house and everything ready for the all the kids coming tonight and as branches and debris fell into the pool I thought "oh hell girl, let it go."  I pulled a chair onto the front porch with a good book and decided to enjoy the storm and thunder.  I'm so damn uptight sometimes.

Today I will approach life with optimism.  I will not only ask my co-workers "how are you today?" but will wait for a response while standing still instead of asking and walking at the same time.

I will stop for the moments that are happening instead of preparing for future moments like clean floors.

The head of the research institute would say something like, How are you doing, and then keep walking not really wanting an answer. He would also ask How was your vacation in one breath and then launch into some work request without a pause. He was and probably still is clueless.

Sounds like a good way to have a good day.

I hurt someone's feelings right out the gate this morning. Wish I had read this first...

A co-worker of mine brought in a barrel of pretzels and placed them on her desk instead of in the kitchen area where the communal food usually goes. She then sent out an email and invited us to help ourselves. When I came in to grab some she said she put them in her office so people would have to stop and say hello. so I did.

YAY!!! And yay kids comin! :)

I love you Pammie, you and Mary Christine are women I continue to admire and really appreciate. If you see rainbows today, know that I prayed God would give them to you today because I believe you are beautiful, honest and kind and deserve the gifts he gives so willingly when we ask! :) I can't give materially but I hope that you do receive lots of rainbows today! :)
